Feasibility analysis of immersive multi-sensory redirection techniques for everyday use in confined spaces (redirection)

Advancing methods and design principles for seamless virtual experiences in small-scale real-world settings

Innovative redirection techniques based on multi-sensory immersion that enable realistic virtual movement despite limited physical space.

Project description

The planned feasibility study examines the viability of immersive multi-sensory redirection techniques that make it possible to create a realistic perception of large virtual spaces within small physical areas (e.g., 2×2 m). The study analyzes existing technologies, develops initial concept prototypes, and conducts technical as well as ergonomic tests. The focus is on integrating visual, auditory, and haptic stimuli to ensure seamless immersion. The aim is to determine the technical and economic framework conditions for a subsequent R&D project that will develop innovative solutions for everyday applications in areas such as gaming, training, and telepresence. The study thus provides the foundation for a competitive and market-ready technology development.
